Monday, March 14, 2005

New Orleans, LA – Sonim Technologies, the leader in enabling today's wireless data networks to deliver high-margin VoIP applications, today announced it will jointly demonstrate its Push-To-Talk solution with Nortel at CTIA Wireless in New Orleans, March 14-16.

With Sonim's fully IMS-compliant application solution, Nortel can offer wireless operators a next generation Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution that is pre-integrated, Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standards compliant, feature rich and consumer friendly. The demonstration will take place at Nortel's booth #3125. Sonim will also be demonstrating its Direct Voice Messaging solution at Nortel's Wireless User Group being held in conjunction with CTIA.

"This integration helps round out Nortel's Converged Multimedia Services solution by addressing Push-To-Talk applications and does so by tapping into an experienced Push-To-Talk over Cellular supplier," said Ken Rehbehn, Principal Analyst for Wireless Infrastructure at Current Analysis. "As one of the earliest participants in the OMA PTT efforts, Sonim brings expertise in both server and handset Push-To-Talk technologies - helping Nortel offer a compelling, off-the-shelf application that delivers on the promise of IMS."

"We are pleased to integrate Sonim's Push-To-Talk over Cellular, POC, application as a key component of our Converged Multimedia Services solution launch," said Alan Stoddard, general manager, Converged Networks, Nortel. "Selection of Sonim's PoC and XDMS list management offerings reflects Nortel's strategy of working with best-in-class application and infrastructure developers as we assemble a strong application ecosystem for our wireless, wireline and cable customers."

Providing carrier grade, IMS-based services and enablers, Sonim Xtend offers modular and extendible application servers for easy integration with existing IMS infrastructure. Fully IP-based with 3GPP standards-based IMS interfaces, Sonim Xtend servers leverage IMS infrastructure investment with distinct service features and superior product performance. Built on an off-the-shelf, carrier-grade platform, Sonim Xtend is highly scalable and reliable. It provides comprehensive provisioning, charging and OA&M functionality and interfaces for smooth integration with core IMS systems for complete end-to-end solutions.

"We are thrilled to be a part of Nortel's global strategy for delivering converged multimedia solutions," said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim. "The key to any successful IMS infrastructure is a robust roadmap of pre-packaged applications with high ARPU opportunities for return on investment - an area where Sonim is very focused."

Last month, Nortel announced its partnership with Sonim Technologies to bring to market pre-integrated, OMA standards compliant, Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution and Group List Management Server integrated into its Converged Multimedia Services (CMS) solution. These solutions will allow Nortel and Sonim to offer carriers best-in-class, carrier-grade voice over IP (VoIP) offerings that have been optimized under a full range of radio interfaces and coverage conditions in more than 30 global trials.
