Sonim Announces Direct Voice Messaging at 3GSM World Congress
Monday, February 14, 2005
San Mateo, CA – Sonim Technologies, the leader in enabling today's wireless data networks to deliver high-margin VoIP applications including Push-to-Talk, today announced its newest product leveraging Sonim's expertise in the Mobile VoIP space - Direct Voice Messaging (DVM). Sonim will be demonstrating the DVM platform at 3GSM World Congress and invites wireless operators and industry participants to visit the Sonim booth for a DVM demonstration (Hall 2, D67).
“We are delivering on our roadmap of Mobile VoIP products,” said Bob Plaschke, CEO for Sonim. “Sonim’s pioneering development to extend Push-to-talk into an array of applications will fuel our ongoing development in the Mobile VoIP space.”
DVM is a patented messaging application that utilizes the IMS multi-media framework for sending and receiving voice messages. Direct voice messages are quickly and easily sent using the PTT contact list, and instantly received with an indicator on the contact list for selected replay. Recipients can listen, save and respond to DVM’s, utilizing MMS, Voicemail or email storage engines. Because DVM is an IP-packet based solution, it offers wireless operators the opportunity to provide voice-centric services while streamlining the end-user experience.
“We’re very excited with the prospects of DVM, a truly IP-based solution that saves two to three times the spectrum utilization of circuit-switched solutions while providing forward compatibility with standards evolution” said Wade Vesey, Chief Commercial Officer for Sonim. “Our research, along with feedback from a number of Tier 1 operators in Asia and Europe indicates strong interest in DVM from both business and consumer end-users, especially when combined with PTT”.
Sonim Direct Voice Messaging is ready for integration with partner’s IMS platforms and designed for compliance on GSM, CDMA, EDGE and UMTS networks.
